We often hear this question, as many are unfamiliar with the role of a Sports Rehabilitation Specialist. While physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and osteopathy are common options for managing muscular injuries; sports rehabilitation offers a unique approach focused on recovery and performance enhancement.
Sports rehab specifically targets the needs of individuals with musculoskeletal injuries, combining evidence-based techniques and personalised programs.

THIS IS HOW I MADE IT
— My Story
After facing multiple injuries and limited rehab options, I had to abandon my dream of a professional Rugby Union career, especially after a trial for Scotland was cut short. I turned my focus at University to Sports Science earning a BSc, and went on to teach secondary science.
Years later, inspired by the impact of rehabilitation on all individuals, not just athletes, I returned to university and earned my Masters Degree in Sports Rehabilitation in 2016. After successfully running Essex Sports Rehab for eight years, I am excited to bring my expertise to Angus to help you recover and thrive!

“I needed an urgent appointment as my back pain had become so severe I couldn’t stand up straight or function normally. He was able to see me the same day and carried out a very thorough examination. After some massage and manipulation I was given an exercise program to follow at home. A further visit to Barry a week later and an additional home exercise plan and my back was almost pain free, which was incredible."

"Highly recommend Barry, went to see him with a shoulder injury and he helped me greatly. He spent time diagnosing the issue and gave me detailed instructions on what exercises to fix it which it has. Very good"

“I went to Barry after sustaining an injury on my knee during rugby. Whilst with Barry, we realised that I had misalignment and he gave me some exercises to work on in between massage sessions on the muscles surrounding the knee. He helped build up strength and repair the knee so that I could go back on the pitch.”
